St. John's Staff

PASTOR CHARLES ST-ONGE - Pastor

Pastor Charles was installed as Pastor at St. John's, Pembroke on February 22, 2026.  He is an ordained LCMS minister, since June 29, 2003. 

He is married to his wife, Deborah, since year 2000, and they have two daughters, Olivia (born 2004 – now finishing college) and Sophia (born 2007 – graduated from High School) . 

He is a contributor to local and national radio broadcasts, and has been a frequent radio guest on the national “Issues, etc.” radio show, and other radio programs.  He is the author of the book “5 Things You Can Do to Appreciate Science and Love the Bible” (CPH, 2013)

His hobbies include - website design, video production, music composition, reading, social networking, blogging, hiking, camping and travel in general.

DEBBIE BERNARD - Organist/Choir Director

Debbie (Stuber) Bernard was born in Pembroke, and attended St. John's as a youth. Debbie began studying the piano at age 5. Her career was a CPA & Director of Business Management at Arnprior Aerospace, and upon her retirement from aerospace, she and her husband, Jake, moved back to Pembroke, and became Organist and Choir Director at  St. John's in December 2014.

SUSAN SCHALO - Office Administrator

Susan was born here in Pembroke, and has been a faithful member of St. John's ever since.  Susan married her husband Derek, in 2011. In 2018, they had their beautiful daughter, Adilyn.  Her dream job ever since college, was to work as the Administrator here at St. John's. In 2018, her dream became a reality when she took over the position
